Odd Duck (4+/families)

A playful mix of dance & theatre

For ages 4 to 104

‘Good morning neighbour, Good morning neighbour!’
Everything is tidy, peaceful, and well-managed in the street where two neighbours live. That is, until someone new moves in next door to them. The arrival of this newcomer is sure to liven up the street. But will the two neighbours welcome this outsider? Will they have space on their picnic blanket for a third person? And who is the real odd duck here anyway?

A familiar story presented through a mix of dynamic dance and theatre. In celebration of the 10 year anniversary of this successful production SALLY Dance Company Maastricht is reimaging “Odd Duck” together with Het Laagland Theatre Company. A heartfelt production for all the odd ones out and everyone else between the ages of 4 and 104.

Artistic leader Stefan Ernst on Vreemde Eend

‘The themes in this production are relatable on so many levels for both children and adults alike.  Here we are, ten years later and the issues are still relevant. Often in contemporary society it can’t be deny that people who look or act even the slightest bit different are immediately treated with suspicion and sometimes aggression. Currently, a number of world political leaders are adding extra fuel to that fire. With this in mind, bringing this performance back into the public view was definitely a positive decision. Together with working with Het Laagland, bringing this production back was on my wish list. Combining these two elements a wish has been fulfilled and a great working relationship has been found.
