SALLY Dance Company Maastricht
SALLY Dance Company Maastricht was originally founded in 2006 by Stefan Ernst and Ronald Wintjens. In 2013, the company moved its base to Maastricht with financial support from the Podium Arts Fund, the Province of Limburg, and the Municipality of Maastricht. In 2016, the young company celebrated its 10th anniversary together with the 20th anniversary of Ernst and Wintjens as choreographers. ‘Passionate, decadent dance’ (Presse Riviëra) and ‘dance with a clearly recognizable signature’ (Saarbrucker Zeitung) is what the media wrote in 1996 about the ‘promising debut’ (Brabants Dagblad) of both artists.
SALLY creates exceptional dance performances and interactive dance projects for young and old alike. From its home base in Maastricht, the company also challenges young dancers and leading choreographers to collaborate on developing their talents to the fullest, inspiring a young public, and literally getting that public ‘moving’.
SALLY can be counted on to create virtuous performances in which modern dance and social themes come together in an passionate and poetic language of motion. Using minimal means, the SALLY team succeeds in creating a maximum visual impact. Abstraction and realism are fused into a unique signature style that sets SALLY apart from others.
SALLY believes that every person has an inner landscape that forms the basis for authenticity, creativity, and expression. Dance is one of the most powerful tools for getting in touch with this landscape, communicating with it, and bringing it to full flower. SALLY invites you to go on a fantastic journey [‘sally forth to see the world’] and, via dance (receptive and active), to experience and create your own inner landscape.
